![]() When terminating the opposite end, conductors 1- and 2- will need to swap positions to line up with their terminals, while 1+ and 2+ retain their orientation. Note that the black conductor is a negative in one cable and a positive in the other, that's just the way it works out. For others it might be 1+ red, 1- green, 2+ black, 2- white. So for some cables it will be 1+ red, 1- black, 2+ blue, 2- white. This is to make it as easy as possible to line up the conductors for inserting into the Speakon terminals. Looking down at the cable end and going counter-clockwise, the conductor adjacent to red will be pin 1-, next will be pin 2+, and then pin 2. I always start with the red conductor as pin 1+. With that in mind, it depends on how the conductors are physically arranged within the cable jacket. I have different brands of cables with combinations of red, black, white, blue, and green conductors, and there might even be some with yellow or orange, can't recall for sure.ĮDIT: GLS Audio 12/4 is red, white, blue, brown Not all 4 conductor cables have the same colors to pair, so it really doesn't make sense to insist on a standard. Poking around some, I see some other references that black may be positive when paired with white, and negative when paired with red. The positive terminal is always keyed white or red. For amplifiers that use different colors for left/right, green will be the 'other' negative, typically paired with white/+.Ī secondary ultimate reference: 'hot'/+ markers on speaker frames or drivers. Black is ALWAYS negative.on a black/red pair. The ultimate reference: binding posts on amplifiers, and spring-loaded terminals on install & hifi speakers, and hifi amplifiers. (pairs fluctuate, either Red/Black or White/Black as +/-) White or red is positive, black or green is negative. ![]() Old school wiring is consistently the reverse. My second thought: what the heck is wrong with these people? (Whirlwind). Honestly, my first thought was that this was a typo (black/white for +1/-1), until I looked at the Whirlwind link. ![]() ![]()
